Who should attend the Retreat?

Whether you are interested in adoption or foster care, are just starting out, in the process, in the waiting stage, have just completed an adoption or foster placement, or have been an adoptive or foster mama for years...this retreat is for you!
What can I expect from attending the Joy in the Journey Retreat?
You can expect a weekend full of encouragement and connection with other adoptive and foster mamas, where you will be poured into and taken care of. We are an interdenominational ministry. The weekend will include main sessions, breakout sessions, worship times, meals, connection times, and some recreation time. It is a chance to rest, rejuvenate, refresh, and connect with God and other women who “get it.” All of it!
When is the Retreat?
This year's retreat will be March 6-8, 2020.
Where is the Retreat?
The Retreat will take place at the beautiful Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Please click here to find out more about our amazing new venue. Stoney Creek is located in the Kansas City area and is less than four hours away from both St. Louis, MO and Tulsa, OK.
What is included in the Retreat cost?

Can I book my own room through Stoney Creek?
The Joy in the Journey ticket price is all-inclusive and reserves your spot in a 4 person room. If you wish to reserve a room with the hotel on your own, you are welcome to do that. That cost would be on your own (through the hotel, not Joy in the Journey) and would be in addition to the $255 conference ticket.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Joy in the Journey will not refund any purchased ticket. If you are unable to attend, it is your responsiblity to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. If we have a wait list at that time, we will help facilitate the transfer of your ticket. There will be ABSOLUTELY no transfers after January 18, 2020.
Can I bring my baby/child?
THIS IS A CHILD FREE event! As much as we LOVE children and babies, this retreat is designed for moms to rest, rejuvenate, refresh, and connect with God and others. Please no children or infants of any age. No exceptions.
What is the Retreat theme?
The theme for the 2020 Retreat is Flourish.
The journey of adoption/foster care and motherhood is challenging, wonderful, humbling, and shows us how much we need Jesus each and every moment. Life and motherhood are not meant to be merely survived. Although there are certainly seasons when it feels like survival is the goal, the Lord says in Isaiah 35 that even in the desert times there will be gladness and rejoicing, and that we will grow, bloom, thrive, and FLOURISH when we place our trust in God and when our minds and souls our firmly fixed on the Lord.
This year we will be focusing on planting our hearts in the promises of God and in who He is, so we can FLOURISH. Flourish In God. In Family. In Community.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
We are able to provide Gluten Free and Dairy Free lunch and dinners. Please mark this on your registration form. We are not able to meet any additional dietary needs, so please plan accordingly. There are mini fridges located in each hotel room.
What are the lodging accommodations?
Stoney Creek is a beautiful hotel and set up incredibly well for the retreat. There is a hot tub, a heated indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center, a scenic 1.5 walking/running trail and lots of areas to rest, relax, and to connect with each other. Each hotel room contains 2 queen beds, a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and mini fridge.
Each person will be allowed to request 1-3 roomates. You and your roommates MUST request each other to ensure your place together. It is not uncommon for women to come on their own and not have a roommate to request. Much thought and prayer is put into the roommate assignments and every year new friendships are formed.

How do I register for the 2020 Joy in the Journey?
Registration for the 7th annual Joy in the Journey Retreat will go live on Saturday, October 12th, at 5:00 p.m. CST. You will be able to register and pay using this registration page. If you are planning to attend the retreat, you will definitely want to mark your calendars and set your alarm so you are prepared to register and purchase your ticket at that time. Due to the smaller, more intimate atmosphere of this event, there are very limited tickets available. Each year the retreat sells out extremely fast and there is usually and extensive wait list. We don't want you to miss it!
How do I know this retreat will be worth the trip/registration fee?
The Joy in the Journey team volunteers hundreds of hours praying, planning, and preparing for the Retreat each year.
